the greater halifax arts coalition
Professional arts organizations in Halifax, Nova Scotia, working for a better city

The Greater Halifax Arts Coalition is an ad hoc group of more than thirty professional arts and culture organizations. Our members meet regularly to work on our shared vision of Halifax as a vibrant, liveable, inclusive, compassionate municipality.
Our mission is to build awareness of, participation in, and support for arts and cultural activities in HRM. We make Halifax a better place to live. We have one of the fastest growing cities in the country. What will these new Haligonians do? We, the undersigned organizations, are committed to building stronger communities here in our home city.
Our participating organizations strengthen the health of the arts in our community and are a key driver of the regional economy:
- Every year our member companies generate more than $23 million collectively in revenue, the majority of which is spent on regional goods and services.
- We perform for more than 295,000 people every year, of all ages, from all walks of life, and in communities throughout the region. This number is expected to increase greatly as we continue to re-emerge from pandemic conditions.
- We employ more than 1300 full and part time people, drawn primarily from the HRM region.
- We attract investment – including more than $8.8 million from other levels of government.
